Laundry Renovation Trends to Help You Improve the Design and Utility of This Room

Blog

When deliberating on residential renovations, the laundry room is likely not a space at the top of your list. And this does not come as surprise considering that guests rarely make their way into this room. However, some improvements should be for your enjoyment, more so if you are the person that spends a considerable amount of time taking care of laundry. Improvements to this space will not only help with making this task more enjoyable but they can also make the area more stylish, which inadvertently helps with increasing the overall value of your house. But where do you start? Keeping in mind that this project does not have to be costly, here are a couple of laundry renovation trends to help you improve the design and the utility of this room.

Connect the room to a bathroom

Having a bathroom in the laundry area may seem, at the outset, like overkill since this area is a wet room anyway. However, if you have pets or kids, this could prove to be an invaluable upgrade. When your kids get home from footy, rugby or simply from playing outside and you do not want them dragging dirt all across your clean house, they could get showered and changed right in the laundry area. Additionally, if you need to bathe your pup or get the mud off their coat, the bathroom provides you with space to do so without leaving grime in the actual laundry area. You could even choose to multitask when doing your laundry and hop into the bathroom yourself to get ready for the day if you choose.

Invest in a butler sink

Even with a washer and dryer in your laundry room, you cannot go wrong with a new sink. And instead of a boring sink that you can encounter in any other laundry room, you should consider splurging and getting a butler sink. Also known as apron sinks, these structures can add a focal point to your laundry room, as they are quite large. The solid white hue of the sink will stand out in your laundry room and you can even take it a step further and choose neutral paint hues for your walls to make the butler sink stand out even more. For an added touch of class, ask the remodelling contractors to paint your faucets in a solid black. Alternatively, you may want to contemplate changing out the faucets altogether for new hardware that will complement your butler sink.
