Reasons To Use Marble In Your Kitchen Renovation

Blog

If there is one material that epitomises luxury, it's marble. For this reason, using marble in the kitchen is something very aspirational. If you are planning on remodelling your kitchen, it can be a great idea to integrate marble in some form. After all, a kitchen renovation is something that you are only likely to do a few times in your life, so why not really make a statement and go for the kitchen of your dreams? Here are some reasons why marble should be the number-one material of choice for your renovation.

It doesn't have to be expensive. The one thing that puts people off marble is the expense. There is no doubt that using marble can be expensive if you want the finest-grade Italian marble shipped from abroad, but it doesn't have to be. Most visitors to your home would never be able to tell the difference between Calacatta and Carrara marble, so go for the Carrara marble, which is typically a lot cheaper but not less beautiful. Also, marble can be a great accent so you don't need to splurge on head-to-toe marble fixtures. If your budget doesn't extend to complete marble countertops, a bespoke marble backsplash will still add elegance to your kitchen remodel.

It ages very well. A kitchen redesign is a huge undertaking, so you don't want to invest in countertops that will need to be updated in just a few years. Not only is marble a very resilient material but it also ages very well aesthetically. Although marble is softer than a material like granite, somehow the little scuffs, stains, and scratches give the marble more character and won't make your kitchen look scruffy. If you want your kitchen to look extremely minimal and pristine, maybe it's not the best choice, but marble complements any kind of rustic or lived-in look very well.

It's low maintenance. The kitchen is one of the highest-maintenance rooms of the house because you have to deal with water, scratches, and food and drink that can potentially stain. For this reason, it's important to choose low-maintenance materials, and marble is exactly that. Be sure that your remodelling contractors apply a layer of sealant to the marble as this will make the material impervious to the everyday spills that happen in a kitchen. Simply give your countertops or splashbacks a wipedown after they are used, and this should keep your marble looking impressive for many years into the future.
